Look: First pictures of “GomBurZa” star Piolo Pascual and Enchong Dee

MANILA, Philippines – Previews of the upcoming movie “GomBurZa,” which is based on the lives of martyred Catholic priests Mariano Gomez, José Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora, were released by JesCom Films and MQuest Ventures.

The actors portraying Gomez, Burgos, and Zamora in the first look photos are Dante Rivero, Cedrick Juan, and Enchong Dee.

The studios also unveiled a picture of Piolo Pascual earlier this week in a special role as Burgos’ mentor and Filipino clergyman Pédro Pelaéz.

Together with the four guys, Epy Quizon, Jaime Fabregas, Carlitos Siguion-Reyna, Khalil Ramos, Elijah Canlas, Neil Ryan Sese, Paolo O’Hara, Tommy Alejandrino, Gerry Kaimo, Dylan Ray Talon, Jomari Angeles, Bon Lentejas, and Arnold Reyes make up the ensemble cast.

Pepe Diokno, an accomplished producer and director, is in charge of the camera. After “Kapatiran” in 2015, “GomBurZa” is his most recent feature film.

On February 17, 2017, the 151st death anniversary of the GomBurZa, who were hanged in 1872 on charges of subversion, the movie and its leading cast were formally announced.

When it was revealed that Juan was Burgos, he stated, “Kailangan todohan ng effort, time, and puso,” while Dee claimed he wanted to show Zamora as being extremely human.

“Yes, he is a hero, but you can’t take away the human part of him: the temptation, the weaknesses, but those are the things that will bring him closer to the audience,” said Dee. Although there is some pressure and motivation, I have faith in the crew, so I feel compelled to maintain the same standard of professionalism.

This year, “GomBurZa” is scheduled for release in Philippine theaters.
